Position Summary This Accountant position is responsible for overseeing the financial close process and ensuring deadlines are met. The role involves monitoring the work of bookkeepers, performing reconciliations, and preparing financial statements and cash flow forecasts. You will be expected to identify and report any financial irregularities and support special projects as required.
Key Responsibilities - Closing Procedures: Ensure all closing deadlines are met. Monitor bookkeepers to ensure routine postings are consistent and correctly coded, providing support as needed. Review and post other journals to the ledger.
- Reconciliations and Reporting: Prepare monthly bank and balance sheet account reconciliations. Review account activity for proper coding and identify any outstanding items. Work with the bookkeeper to prepare a weekly four-week cash flow forecast, including accounts payable, payroll, and funding sources.
- Financial Oversight: Immediately advise the Accounting Manager of any financial irregularities or suspected internal control issues. Submit draft financial statements to the Director of Accounting Services according to deadlines.
- Special Projects: Handle special projects as required.
Qualifications - Bachelor's degree in accounting
- 1 to 2 years of experience in accounting
- Knowledge-Skills-Abilities: Excellent communication skills (oral, written, presentation, and active listening).
- Proficiency: Ability to multi-task and prioritize workload. Must be proficient in QuickBooks; familiarity with Zoho is a plus.
- Competencies: Teamwork, detail-oriented, a sense of urgency, and accountability.
