About The Client Australian owned group of hydraulics, fluid power and flow control businesses, headquartered in Sydney. It is the largest independent hydraulics business in the country and has been operating for more than 30 years. The Group employs around 1100 people across roughly 37 locations nationally and supplies the mining, construction, agriculture, oil and gas, energy, defence and general industrial sectors. Customers run equipment they describe as "mission critical", so fast turnaround and dependable service sit at the heart of the brand. The Group has grown mainly by acquisition and now brings together more than 18 businesses.
Role purpose This role runs the Group's internal communications day to day. The Specialist plans, writes, produces and schedules messages across our channels so that staff in each business get clear, accurate and timely information. Because we have so many businesses, much of the work is tailored to a particular company, audience or site rather than produced as one standard version. The Specialist works closely with, and takes direction from, the onshore People and Culture lead, who owns the strategy, the executive relationships and sign off on anything sensitive.
Key responsibilities Channels and content - Keep the Group's internal channels running and up to date: the intranet, email and newsletters, digital screens and noticeboards at branches, and the messaging and collaboration tools staff use.
- Write and edit most internal communications, from short announcements and newsletters through to intranet articles, leadership messages, FAQs and printed notices for sites.
- Produce simple supporting graphics and layouts, for example in Canva, to go alongside written communications. We do not use video messages, so the focus is on written and visual material.
- Tailor communications to individual businesses where needed and keep a consistent style across the Group, working without formal brand guidelines.
Planning and coordination - Own the internal communications calendar and keep it lined up with what the Group and its businesses have coming up.
- Coordinate timing across the businesses so teams are not hit with clashing or competing messages.
- Keep a steady flow of safety and operational messaging going out, working with the people who own that content.
- Work with onshore People and Culture, business leaders, finance, IT and marketing to get the facts right before anything is published.
Leadership and manager communications - Prepare briefing notes, talking points, presentations and FAQs for executives and managers, from EGM and GM level down to Branch Managers.
- Put together simple manager packs so leaders can pass key messages on to their teams in a consistent way.
Engagement and Group identity - Run campaigns that build a sense of one Group while respecting the history and identity of each business, and that encourage the businesses to work together.
- Support recognition, values and wellbeing activity, and help organise things like all staff updates, leadership question and answer sessions and milestone announcements.
Change and project communications - Draft and schedule communications for Group projects, system changes and people or remuneration changes, working to onshore direction.
- Handle sensitive material carefully. Approval of anything confidential stays onshore.
Measurement - Track how communications are landing, including reach, open rates, engagement and staff feedback, and report on it regularly.
- Help run staff pulse surveys and pull the results together for the onshore team.
Skills and experience Essential - At least 7 years in internal or corporate communications
- Native level written business English, with strong editing and proofreading
- Confident across channels: intranet or CMS, email tools, Sharepoint, Claude AI and newsletters
- Well organised, able to own a calendar and hit deadlines
- Sound judgement and discretion with confidential information
- Comfortable working with people across time zones
- Able to produce simple graphics and layouts (Canva or similar)
- Experience with change or project communications
Desirable - Experience communicating to field, branch or frontline workforces
- Background in industrial, engineering, trades or B2B sectors
Work Schedule:
- Monday-Friday, 7:00 AM - 4:00 PM Manila Time
Work Location:
- Home-based
- Should have a strong internet connection (minimum of 20 MBPS)
Note: As part of our recruitment process, we conduct a background check on all hired candidates. Please ensure that all required documents are prepared and submitted promptly.
